Fazenda Lagoa
Our coffee grows on the farm Fazenda Lagoa
which is well-known among connoisseurs. It is situated at the lake of
the same name in the mountains of Minas Gerais, in the South-Eastern
interior part of Brazil, one of the most traditional and best
plantation areas for coffee. With great consideration for the ecosystem
and a lot of dedication and social responsibility, the Fazenda Lagoa,
which comprises approximately 400 hectares, produces an estate coffee
of very limited quantities (approximately 10.000 bags of 60kg per
year).
Brazil is the world's biggest coffee-producing country. The unwashed and sun-dried beans are normally sold as Brazil Santos in order to distinguish them from the finer Milds.
Among numerous Arabica types, Brazil also produces a Robusta coffee.
The qualities from the plants imported from French Guyana in 1720 vary
a lot and offer something for every taste: the sorts growing in the
North near the sea have a strong sea aroma, and the old Bourbon beans
which are now again cultivated in the South-Eastern Cerrado region are
attractively mild-spicy with only little acid.
