Cappuccino

Cappuccino is an Italian coffee speciality. A Cappuccino is made of espresso (brewed with double the normal amount of water), hot milk and frothed milk, each of which make up 1/3 of the drink.

With the intention to refine the taste of the Cappuccino, it is sprinkled with a bit of cocoa powder and/or cinnamon. Italian coffee bars often create artsy patterns (hearts, clouds, butterflies) on top of the milk froth with this powder by using stencils or by stirring it with a spoon. The Barista (bar man/coffee preparer) enjoys high esteem in Italy due to this.

The name of this drink is probably derived from the Italian term for a Capuchin-Monk, the colour of the habit which is worn by these monks is the same colour as that of the ideal Cappuccino.
